Wir feiern unseren 13. Jahrestag seit wir Sozialarbeit als Kentoledo begonnen. We thank God for his providence and the friends of Kentoledo social Service Club for their prayers and support materially and in kind. As we appreciate the grace of God we need to take a look back, taste and see what He has done for our people of Mathare, in essence count our blessings. We initially started off by supporting the primary school pupils who were unable to go to school due to lack of school fees, school uniforms, stationary and food because of their unique harsh living conditions.
We have since moved many to boarding schools to spare them the dehumanizing situation in Mathare so that they concentrate on their studies. We have had our disappointments with some dropping out of school for reasons beyond our control. This has given us an opportunity to learn more and evaluate our programs to see how best to improve our success ratings. Together with the challenges we have many good stories to tell and marvel at how we have been able to transform boys and girls into adult Kenyan citizens who no longer have to go back at the squalor of Mathare but full of hope and promise to help in our transformative social work. We have two of our own Allian Omutoni and Elsie Aoko who have gone to Daystar University and JKUAT respectively and have since been integrated to the community and have come at times to give motivational talks to Kentoledo children. We currently have four who are in different universities. Other former students sponsored through Kentoledo have graciously come back to give back to the Kentoledo Family in material and kind, this gesture is highly appreciated.
One of the big milestones that were have made is the Urban Rural re-integration project where we have identified single mothers who have been living in the slums yet they have a piece of land back in their rural villages. They have been afraid of going back because of stigmatization. We have so far relocated four families to different parts of the country where the families are thriving. Among these there are those who can now happily give back to their community.
We would like to appreciate the following as our partners in the long journey we have taken; The Umbra Group from Italy, Symphasis from Switzerland, Referat Mission & Entwicklung , Kinder Mission from Germany, Diozese St. Polten in Austria for their continued support, A lot of appreciation goes to our individual friends that continues to support the project; Dr. Marcus Oder and his team, Peter & Monika Biedermann, Johan Distelger, Father Harald Mally, Claudia, Karin , Mr. &Mrs. Herbert among others . We would also want to appreciate our local contributors Garyl Agencies, Lino Stationers and all who have supported in one way or another. We are greatly honored and encouraged that we shall walk together in our quest to liberate our Children in Mathare from the scourge of ignorance and the cycle of poverty. Long Live Kentoledo social Service Club.
